With 1 in 8 people in Australia living in Poverty and the current economic conditions as they are today, our Kids need your help. They are going without life’s basics including access to resources to further their education.
The housing crisis, increased cost of living and the Covid pandemic have put added stresses on families in Australia. Not having money for housing payments, food, clothing and medical bills, these families are also struggling to pay for school supplies.
The Kids4Kids Foundation was set up to help struggling families in providing school supplies, as we believe a quality education can help prepare them to become more productive, responsible, ethical, creative and compassionate members of society.
In January 2017, at just 9 years old, Samuel Glancy recognised a pressing need within his community: local schoolchildren lacked essential supplies for their education. The catalyst for this realisation was encountering two boys who had fled from domestic violence, finding themselves without beds, food, or even Christmas gifts. This encounter profoundly impacted Samuel, prompting him to take action.
Reflecting on his own ‘extra’ school materials, Samuel couldn’t shake the image of those two boys and others facing similar challenges. Thus, he embarked on a mission. In its inaugural year, he initiated a collection drive and offered assistance to two nearby schools, amassing an impressive 4,000 school supplies. Since then, buoyed by the support of his local community, Samuel’s efforts expanded exponentially. By 2021, he had aided over 13 local and regional schools, and even extended support to an overseas institution, distributing more than 100,000 vital school supplies.
In 2022, the Kids4Kids Foundation was officially registered as an ACNC-approved charity, obtaining DGR status. The charity is governed by a Board. In just two years they’ve collected an additional 90,000 school supplies. Since its inception, the foundation has experienced remarkable growth in both its reach and accessibility to families in need.
